What employees like about Buutti: Insights from our EVP

BloggausWhy do buuttians stay with us? Why join Buutti? These are crucial questions when considering employee commitment or when an applicant is thinking about making a move and considering Buutti as a potential employer. There are, of course, multiple answers and individual reasons, but we wanted to dive into this and update the company’s EVP. Now you might think: “What on earth is EVP?” Here is a quick summary:

EVP, or Employer Value Proposition, is the employer’s promise to its employees. To refine our EVP, we conducted several workshops and employee interviews with a diverse focus group from across the company. After these discussions, we now have a clear vision and some answers to the questions mentioned above. Let’s break this down:

Buuttians feel heard

Every interviewee highlighted the importance of their preferences being considered. While we can’t make miracles happen or fulfill every project wish, we strive to do our best. Employees trust the company because Buutti actively discusses individual preferences and monitors skill development. We hold development discussions twice a year where employees can talk about their career development with their supervisor.

Interesting job tasks

As a consultancy, it boils down to having an interesting and diverse client portfolio to be able to secure interesting stuff to do. We have over 50 active clients from various industries, which helps us navigate the challenging IT market by not putting all our eggs in one basket. For our software developers, we promise that they can focus on one development project at a time. You won’t be pulled in every direction; instead, you can concentrate on what you’re doing.

For other roles (people-team, sales, finance, education coordinators etc.) we aim to provide interesting and meaningful work as well. Buutti is a growth company where all the employees can work very flexibly and with a high degree of self-direction. We also offer job rotation, allowing our employees to change a role inside the company. Some of our consultants have become programming trainers at Buutti Education and vice versa.

Trust in expertise

Our employees are some of the most skilled in their respective fields, and we want to give buuttians autonomy and the opportunity to take ownership of their own work.

Although working as a consultant can be very independent, Buutti provides resources and support to employees to help them maintain and expand their technical expertise. We offer consultants a training benefit of 15 hours per year, which is paid study time. We also pay a bonus for completing certifications. These measures ensure we remain competitive in our industry and can offer our clients the best possible results.

Investment in honest and open communication

We speak about things as they are. We don’t promise unicorns or cloud castles; instead, we maintain honest and open communication. Buutti strives to be as non-hierarchical as possible, keeping buuttians informed about what is happening in the company. There is a monthly CEO’s review where we discuss all news and share ups and downs. New consultants are invited to an executive team meeting to introduce themselves and hear more about how this team works and how to give development ideas. (development ideas from employees are the most welcome!)

Salary is also discussed openly already from the beginning of recruitment and the salary discussion continues throughout the employee lifecycle. Salary will be discussed annually in development discussions and of course when changing projects or if your project is ongoing, then the sales team strives to increase the hourly rate, directly impacting the salary. Buuttians usually earn better than the industry average.

Flexibility in different life situations

Last but not least is flexibility. In today’s working life, flexibility can mean different things for different people. Some prefer working in the office, while others favor remote work. Some need a late start, while others have small children and need a family-friendly workplace. At Buutti, we aim to be as flexible as possible.

Work-life balance is vital to us. We encourage employees to take breaks, have hobbies, and use their vacation time. We don’t expect employees to work overtime or on weekends.

While we are not perfect and don’t claim to be, we strive to do our best, which has brought us this far. Buutti as an employer is committed to each of the points mentioned above. In the future, we’ll continue to monitor and refresh our EVP as needed.
